Last night the Philadelphia Orchestra did an amazing job as an opening act for The Stonethrowers. They performed a 3 hour Saint Matthew Passion to 4500 people (all our doing of course). After the extensive standing ovation, our fans finally came out to enjoy a 45 minute set of The Stonethrowers. We’d like to say a special thanks to them for treating everyone to such a moving performance, priming them for our bluegrass experience.

Insomnia

5 days in a row now w/ anxiety filled sleeps. What should do? What comes next? How do I get things done when I don’t even know what those “things” are?

SO: My new record, A Miners Town is mastered, and the artwork is complete. I’m up at night wondering how to pay for a pressing of the disc, and how to get it in the hands of people who know how to help (if they’d be willing).

2013 off and running

Just got back from Italy where we took in the tastes, sights, and sounds of Venice, Florence, and Rome. Can’t wait to go back! When I arrived home we had no gigs on the calendar, mostly cause I’m a slacker (sometimes). Check out schedule now though please, cause it’s filled up fast!

New Record is getting REmastered, and art work is in progress. New band is in the works for that project, and I am really excited to see this new direction take flight.

Exploding Mines at Harvest Time

No news is bad news in this world of music eh? Well, we haven’t been without updates, but I have not been very good about updating my web news widget.

Friday, Oct 12th I go to Hudson NY to get my new record mastered with Henry Hirsch. This record features songs inspired by the sights and sounds of our modern natural gas drilling practices today. Paired with a few of my favorite new original songs which fit the vibe of the ominous, I am really excited to return to a record more in line withe my first record, Stonethrowers. More info coming soon!

The Stonethrowers and I have been gigging around the region at great venues like Longwood Gardens, Johnny Brendas, The Keswick Theater, The World Cafe Live and more. We have a few great shows coming up, which include opening for Sierra Hull at The Sellersville Theater, and performances in Berwyn, Lancaster, and Philadelphia.

LeAnn Rimes at The Keswick Theater

I feel really grateful that I was offered to open the show for LeAnn Rimes at The Keswick Theater on Friday, May 18th. Thanks to everyone who bought CD’s and signed the mailing list! Hope you’ll come out and see the band when we are in your area next time.

Next shows are at Longwood Gardens (members only shows), then OATS Bluegrass Festival, Circle of Friends Concert in the Park, & A Delaware Bluegrass Festival.

Our CD Release Party is Scheduled for March 9th at Johnny Brenda’s at 9 p.m. Foxhound opens the show, followed by The Brad Hinton Band, then The Stonethrowers. I’ll be offering T-shirt and CD package deals, and we have a musical surprise planned… you’ll never guess it would be possible!

The Seldom Scene

Writing/Performing/Business – which one should I choose?

Hey All! Trying to keep you up to date on everything. I’d made a decision at the beginning of the summer to hide away from band business and shut myself off to do some serious writing. Funny thing is… when you do that you don’t get any gigs, and people don’t get to see you live.

We’ve got a few house concerts coming up in January. I hope you’ll join us then! But, I am proud to say that my efforts in songwriting were extremely fruitful! I have 28 new songs which make two complete full length records, and I am headed into the studio in January & February (YES!!! I KNOW, I HAVEN’T EVEN RELEASED CALIFORNIA AVENUE YET) to begin recording my 5th full length record.

Stay tuned for an Official CD release Show, and please inquire about hosting your very own house concert!
